Welcome to my website!

Before we begin our work together, I'd like to share a bit about my background, education, and training. I began my career over 30 years ago as a Program Assistant for the Joint Educational Project, the nation's oldest service learning organization, training college students to go into community schools to tutor students. I'm proud to be a fourth-generation educator and continue my family's long 100-year legacy in the profession. My educational background includes an Ed.D. in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership with a concentration in Global Studies in Education, an M.A. in Education from Pepperdine University, summa cum laude, a B.A. in English from the University of Southern California, a Professional Clear California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (I'll always be a teacher at heart), and several certifications and trainings that help me be a better leader, teacher, and colleague.

I have served families in a variety of capacities including Head of School, Assistant Head of School (Vice Principal), Director of Admissions, classroom teacher, university instructor, consultant, and tutor. I currently serve as Head of School of Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys in Southeast Washington, D.C., where I lead all aspects of strategic planning, board governance, instruction, finance, policy creation and implementation, and daily operations, including raising $4 million annually to fund our operating budget and scholarships for every student, and building an endowment to secure the school's future.

I earned my doctorate during the pandemic (no small task!), and I wrote my dissertation on "The Use of Information and Communications Technology to Deliver Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development in Rural Ghana During COVID-19 School Lockdowns." It was a timely case study of how a rural school in Ghana utilized WhatsApp and radio to continue instruction when other means of technology were unavailable. From 2018-2023, I served as a volunteer teacher trainer and consultant in Senase-Berekum, Ghana. In January 2021, I completed a month-long research residency there writing and implementing COVID-19 school policy and safety protocols in collaboration with the local Ghana Education Service Division, and in 2023 I completed a West African Research Association fellowship conducting qualitative research on progressive education reform in rural Ghanaian schools.

Beyond my school leadership work, I regularly speak and present at local, regional, national, and international conferences, including the National Association of Episcopal Schools, the Episcopal Urban Schools Association, National Association of Independent Schools, E-Learning Africa Digital Education Conference, and Jack and Jill of America, Inc., on topics ranging from leadership and culturally responsive pedagogy to educational equity and boys' education. I'm also proud to be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated.
